Springtime Pleasures

I have always enjoyed the outdoors and Springtime is particularly pleasant. Dystonia has been hard on me lately. My left foot and hand are curling and cramping quite a bit and I have been feeling a bit frustrated that the Baclofen isn't working as well as I would like. It helps to have the nice weather. I love getting out of the house and walking in the wilderness or just sitting in the yard admiring the flowers. Today we enjoyed a picnic by the stream on campus. My son loves throwing sticks and rocks into the water. He would probably sit by the water throwing things for hours if we let him. His joys remind me to focus on the small pleasures of life and to try not to worry so much about dystonia and the demands of graduate school.

okay, sorry this might sound short... i wwa in the middle of writing a very long reply, lol. well knowing me it was prolly more like a babble. but than blogger refreshed the page and ate my reply. anyways basically i just wanted to say that your post reply lifted my spirits and i'm super glad that you were able to enjoy that one day. that picture is really moving. your post brought tears to my eyes. i'm sorry that baclofen isn't helping as much as it used to(as much as it should). i hope that you have a lot of room left to work with your prescription so that you can get back to where you were.

i feel very sad that things seem to just to continue to be getting worse for you but i hope that you you're not alone, i truly understand how you feel. i have a kinda weird question to ask you about permanent spasms, so i hope i get to chat with you soon. i missed our chance to im on aim the other night but i hope we get to catch soon. i feel like you understand what i go through the most and especially understand what i'm trying to do with dreams upgrade. i think its cause you get the web 2.0 stuff the most. or maybe i just haven't explained things as well as i could. but i also feel like you understand why this is so important for me.

most importantly i really appreciate how much you care &show your concern for me. i hope you know its mutual and i'm extremely grateful to have you as a friend. *hugs* and thank you. i really really really hope that you get some relief soon. and please know that i'm still around and i'm just working so heard on dreams upgrade. i hope you, &everyone else, understand why i can't spend as much time as i'd like at dreams, just in order for me to actually complete dreams upgrade. anyways i feel very bad, very very very bad. actually i feel kinda depressed because i'm worried about how everyone may feel i've like abandoned them. but i haven't i've just had to decide how important my over all focus for dreams is... and my overall life dreams are, and although my programming is helping me adapt to my gd, one arm, and programming. but well open source designer and its one of pasions, its my art, and i feel like you understand that, well i hope you do. i'm really doing ths for all of us, for gd awareness, &etc, but mostly for me. i hope you understand that i'm not trying to avoid, abandon, or hurt anyone by dedicating my time to dreams upgrade. but i only have so much productive time and because of my gd and because expressing my creativity is vital to me, adjusting to life with gd, and being happy. i'm whining, i know... i just feel bad for not being as active as i'd like to be, but i know it'll be worth it, for mr, but most importantly: for all of us. i just feel kinda guilty about it all.

okay i'll stop now, i just hope that you get tos of relief and very soon. *hugs* &ps: i hope tat we get to chat soon.

take care hon,
        ♥ Katy

Hi Katy,

I'm glad you liked my post. I really do enjoy life for the most part. I feel very fortunate that my dystonia improved so much over the years. Even though things are a bit harder for me lately, I am finding ways to cope.

Parenting is challenging for me, but my son really does keep me focused on living in the moment and finding peace in the small things in my life. Being a good Mommy and being able to help others cope with chronic disability is really what makes me feel successful in life. The rest of it...grauate school...publishing...money...etc...is really just water under the bridge and doesn't amount to much unless I can enjoy peace, unerstanding and happiness.

Good luck with the dreams programming. I do know how important it is to you. I don't think anyone is feeling neglected or anything. I am sure that everyone who shares in dreams is just so happy to have a place where you and others understand.

Hang in there and know that you always have a friend in me.

Hugs,
Jen
