Mold moves in, we move out

Our house became water logged over the holidays. There is a crack in the foundation of the house and because the house is on a slab (no basment etc...) the water was getting into the heating ducts and humidifying the house. It has been an ongoing problem, but never this bad. We noticed mold in December and had been trying to clean it up. The landlord brought some extra dehumidifiers over to get the water out of the air. Problem is that once the air dried out the mold spores became airborne and we started getting sick. We are in the process of moving and throwing away a lot of our property that was damaged. The mold in the house is so bad now that we have to wear masks with hepa filters while getting things out. It is a big mess...the landlord is planning to gut it and redo walls, carpeting...everything. Luckily we found a new place to live. Our new house is really nice...all newly redone...and affordable. Our new landlord has also been a blessing...getting the new house ready for us. I think we will be happier in the new place. It is close to the park and the university. Nice hardwood floors.

Sometimes change is difficult, especially when it is so sudden. I am finding once again the importance of appreciating the small things in life.
